PISSED RIGHT OFF
Took my bus round to our family welder today to get another hole done
when he looked at all the other welding that had been done ie jacking points out riggers lower front panel chassis ends cills he said the work was **** and i could see it it was all just tacked on{spot weld} seems not even finished just left not an mot pass ,i mean i must have **** on my forehead or what. Two years me and my mrs waited to source someone to do the welding on my van and still once again you always pick the guy who seems the most genuine and hes the one that will **** it right up for you,so not only did he **** my arches up he didnt even do a tidy job on the welding £3500 not well spent,i feel like blowing the thing up, :x i can feel a bat going to some ones head. So now my trusted welder has to go over there work to finish it off
which thank god its not going to be to much as a favour to me and family and could see how pissed off i was
I dont understand why people do **** work or things there not capable of ,in my game as a builder your work has always got be pukker other wise whats the point in doing it because as we all no its not all about the money ,reputation is much more important ,like i said im a chippy brikie and a spread buy traid and the last thing you want is customers complaining, do it once and do it right.
Ive also spoke to trading standards today so im going to get that moving as enough is enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anybody else had bad work done

i really do feel for you dude!i know the feeling when it comes to **** welding!i bought my van being told it was prefect underneath and just needs arches when infact it had bits of tin tacked over holes in my chassis legs!how the f*ck can sombody put there name on such work and think it is ok to sell vans on and even let work like that go near the road!luckily i realised quite early on! unlucky tho mate, you know it will be worth it!

There is a big difference between a tack, plug and a spot weld!

I'm assuming you mean its all only been tacked rather than spotted.

So if its been done with a single sided spot welder I can't see what the problem is. Thats how vw did the majority of the welding.

I would be interested to know where it went? Not a VW Specialist in Cardiff maybe?

I live in Blackwood and have a "tidy" mate in the trade for both mechanical and bodywork. PM me if you need anything...

cheers

I think we should just hold fire before we do any naming and shaming, as it sounds to me like its gone one of two ways.

1) The bus has had some sub standard work done to it.
OR
2) The bus has been spot welded back to original spec and then the work has been looked at by someone who isn't familar with bays.
