Ok so I have a problem with how my poptop sits. It seems to sit too high at the front, I know the seals will help but it still looks a bit high to me. If I peer under and look at the bracket in the middle its resting on it there is no way for it to come down lower.

Looking at opinions on the samba, it seems people feel that bracket at the front is to hold it when down, but I wonder if it is in fact just a rest, because I can't see how it can hold anything.

My hinges don't appear to have any obvious wear.

See one picture from the outside and one looking in:

It looks like if I removed it (bracket) the top would come down, does anyone know how it should sit with the bracket in place?

It is missing a seal, which will fill that gap. Get a full seal kit from Just Kampers including the luggage rack and it will all sit correctly. The rear of the pop top is too low which kicks the front up.

Not a good picture but this one looked like that until the seals were fitted.

Thats good to know, I have removed the lower bracket and moved the hinges back as far as they can go, and its sitting so much better, but for sure without the seals, i can't set it up correctly, they are on order!

No help from me, other than a shout out regarding the honeycombs ... I had loads in and around my roof too! :)

Hi!

Mine is the same, but i have new seals all round, and it still doesn't sit right, the old roof i took off fitted perfect. I was wondering of the roof distorts or something? So how do you get it to fit then if you still have gaps at the front sides, even with new seals on? The part with the hook on at the front, should the pop top hook fit in front, or after the roof hook? :?

Was gonna get a mesh visor to disguise it, but you have to drill these on the b pillar rail yes? :(

Have you got any pictures?

I think its worth looking at your hinges to make sure they are not bent etc. Then check the bracket at the front, its pretty easy to loosen the lower one which has some adjustment, I simply removed one bolt and swiveled it out of the way to get my top down, which you could try for no expense to see if that helps

I'm sure some of the roof's do warp and suffer over the years, so you might just have to make the best of a bad one so to speak.

Are you saying you swapped another poptop roof for your current one, whats the story there? Could you just have not aligned the new one up correctly? If you can post pictures it would be a big help.

Hi!

Sorry to hijack the thread - but we have the same problem, though yours seems better than mine!

I am fairly sure the hinges are ok, have tried adjusting them... Swapped roof as my old had had poor paint with fibreglass strands showing, and a torn canvas, this one has good paint and canvas - aside from not fitting very wsell it's ok......

Well it looks like you should be able to remove the lower bracket to see how it looks, I think I can make out the screw/Rivets for that bracket in the centre of your poptop.

Lift the roof and you can get a ten mm spanner in there and undo it, I think the nuts are captive but it might be as well to loosen one and take the other out and just swivel it out of the way. Its probably worth a try to see if it makes the difference as it did on my before and after pics.

Your roof does seem to be distorted in a way, maybe due to a bad repair in the past?
Couldn't hurt to take it off and try to repair it.
It has a wavyness to it, just like the one in the last pic.

You have the wrong seal. That is the seal for the luggage rack. You need the seal from here (first item)
