Another good day today.... Sliding door bottom inner and skin fixed. Louvered windows out. (Have got all new seals, and have lost the issue of Camper and Bus with the rebuild in. Anyone got one?)

Found a load more shocking filler and iron oxide. Will need more steel.

Today's pics start at no. 86

Most of the near side is welded up. Looking sweet. Knackared and ready for bed

On Saturday we stripped the dashboard out and got rid of the home-brew wiring in the engine bay. Trimmed off what was left of the J-channels. Finished off the hole in the floor

Big chops today! Have removed the o/s rear corner... Drastic, but it was gone around the swage line and had a load of previous repairs. Knocked out what was left of the rear valance and cut out the windscreen.

Got the new valance in and rebuilt most of the chassis post that had crumbled.

Today's instalment starts at no. 153

Only a half day for me today.

Still working on the rear end. Lots to get lined up right before the welder strikes the panels. Nice to see both trays in. The rear quarter fits like a glove (so bloody well it took ten minutes to get it off again after trying it for size)

As usual today's pics are just a click away, starting at 227.

Thanks for that Harry. I've been following yours and it too looks pretty sweet. Be glad when this welding malarky is over though!

It's been a hard couple of days. The rear end is now pretty much sown up, but coming down the offside it seems like the Titanic has fallen out in the way of iron-oxide. It all looks a bit severe at the minute.

Today's exciting episode begins at no. 259

Hop on at:

Chop, Bang, Weld..... getting really sick of rust and welding.... Not quite as sick as Steve though!

Inner and middle sill in. Jacking point, cross member and top-hat on. Floor rebuilt around the bulkhead. It's these little bits that take the time....grr

Sesame Street is brought to you today with the number 293.

looks good mate and the progress is inspiring. i suspect the reason that you havent had more comments on your great progress is that your bus is a late bay. rather an early. but you cannot argue that you have done about two years work (in a normal resto thread) in about two week. slam it and put some great rims on it and it will look great :D

keep ie up mate. the less bays in the scrap yard the better

Thanks for that. Yeah, you're right on the speed of stuff. We've done more in a couple of weeks than the garage which has my early bay has done in nearly three years. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and I'll be going along with a trailer to get it back soon.

It is still technically a crossover though (August 72, Still got an early fuel flap!) So I hope I'll be forgiven. This is the only forum with any sense!

Planning on riding high and lofty at the mo. Stock is the new lowered you know!

Things aint so quick when you've gotta make the bits!

Have got the sill and b-post finished. Offered up the door and got the arch tacked in.
Roll on sanding filler!

Welded a few more holes. Made a bit of chassis and chopped in the front. Blobbed in the filler and spent all week sanding the bloody stuff down.

The paint is going on......

No. 329 is today's starter:

What collor goes on?

One month exactly today! (That one month of six days a week, nine hours per day.)

Time...... Newspaper photographer..... not a lot of work on at the moment.... plenty of time.

No, seriously, I'm shagged out, doing office work at 6am and then working on the bus, nipping off to jobs when they come in, and then editing pictures to send to clients in the evening.

Colour is as it rolled out of the factory: Brilliant Orange and Pastel White.
The orange would have gone non today, but we ran into a problem with the primer reacting with the front panel for some reason, so it had to be sanded back and done again. Should be on tomorrow and then the white top and inside on Saturday. Off to Volksworld in the car on Sunday to get those last little bits that are on the list.

Anybody know who does replacement rubbers for Westy roof-racks? (Between the rack and the roof.)

The primer's been flattened, the seams sealed, the top bagged and now.....

YOU KNOW WHEN YOU"VE BEEN TANGOED!

The L20B is laid on. Holy shit, it's bright!

Got the Pastel White on most of the tops today. Few more bits and bobs left to paint and then it the reassemble game. Off to Volksworld tomorrow with a list of bits I'm still missing.

Looky here at no. 552

http://pa.photoshelter.com/c/jasonbye/gallery-show/G0000zDlxZgatq7A?_bqO=550&ppg=25&_bqH=eJwrNa1M8TRMSw73T3FMDDQ0j8_xKoqvtKwwNQm1MrUwtjIytbJyj_d0sXU3AIIql5yKqPTEkkJzRzV3z3h3Rx8f16BIbNIAsoIa.w--" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Started bolting bits on today. Going on in a bit of an odd order so Steve and I don't trip each over each other.

Order hopefully the last load of stuff; seat belts, TMi covers and door cards, a forgotten door seal, and new indicator housing when the original one fell apart after I cleaned it up.

Window guy had a struggle with the rear hatch, gave up and will be back tomorrow with alternative cords for pulling the seals in.

Not many pics today. Spent hours replacing the seals in one of the Westy windows. 'kin mare of a job!
