Slamwerks adjustable rear springs plates were due to be fitted to my bus when it was with the guys to have the KnL done, spoke to Guy last week and they have no springplates in at the moment or for the foreseeable future due to a problem with production of the spline component (broaching I think its called). Guy told me it was likely to be a few months as initially I thought he was joking when he said the end of the year :( :( :( :( :(

I was lucky then cause I got a set of Slamwerks plates recently from their online shop. No complaints with their service either :msn4:

Rob

I just received a set of transporterhaus plates from Scott Wilson for my 72
What rubber bushing do you use on the inside? Are they the same as stock? The inner OD is now bigger than the outer

Hello matey there's a bit of a story behind this question as I'm guessing you did the same as me an got new donuts when you got the spring plates so you come to fit them
An there crazy tight

So I though there might be something wrong with them so I did no more then ring Alex an ask the question

Do I need special donuts or should standard ones fit

The answer came o yeah I've been meaning to get round too making some donuts the right size

So your telling me new stock ones don't fit

No was the reply I got he then said the best thing you can do is use one of your old ones on the back of the plate

Rob

That doesn't sound too helpful :(

Afraid can't help much either, our spring plates came with new donuts so no idea what they are or if they're standard parts or something funky

probably the most important thing is the quality of the sprung steel compared to std

They are grinding marks

Old thread but relevant if you are searching for info on what to buy for lowering.

Today went to fit horseshoe plates so I began by resetting my springplates to stock height. I'm running Transporterhaus adjustables and they've been fitted for one season, for me that's been about 3500 miles.

Luckily I kept my originals.......

The lug that the adjuster bolt bears on (taking the weight of the van!) on the rhs plate is deformed upwards about 15 degrees and it looks like the weld is cracked and about to give up the ghost. The implications of this don't bear thinking too long about at 70mph and loaded with kit and nearest and dearest!!

I'm going to look at the lhs next weekend, run out of time tonight; but I'm very pissed off and will be contacting Transporterhaus and possibly Trading Standards as soon as I've had a good look at the other side. Be warned.......I'm not a person to get pissed off easily and poor materials/workmanship will break a reputation once the power of the internet is involved.

Wow, that sounds bad ... can you post a pic?

Clem,
just got the rhs off at the mo and I'll try to post a pic tonight.

Considering taking it to work tomorrow to strip off the surface finish in the area of interest and crack test pfd it. Just concerned about affecting my legal position if I mess with it though.

Got to check 100% but I think I got them via Cool Air and always been happy with their customer service approach so there may be an acceptable outcome from the wasted cash point of view; and although I'm a in a bit less of a ranting mode now, I still shudder to think of the mess if that lug came away while making good progress....I really really hope it is a one off as there's plenty of these sets fitted to Earlies and Lates.

Cool. Mine are Creative, but I guess they are all the same in principle. Its a worrying occurrence.
