Have just re-assembled my engine following its complete strip down (new bearings etc) but have had a look and the clutch is shot, the rivets on the friction plate have been rubbing on the pressure plate so i need a complete clutch kit.
I have has a look on a few sites and there appears to be 2 clutches that it could be. Its definately 200mm but how do i tell if its with a pad or with out a pad (what is the pad anyway?). Looking at the gearbox it looks like an early type release bearing but i'm sure i read that providing i fit a complete kit then i can use the later type clutch release bearing, is this true?

No the clutch arm is different however there is a kit available but for the life of me I cant remember who produces it its in a back copy of Volks world....

Take a look at this picture

Which release bearing do you have? Item 2 or 3? If you have 2 then you need a clutch with the pad if 3 then without a pad. The pad in question is in the centre of the pressure plate. You cannot interchange them without changes to you gearbox which may or may on be possible. Can you post a clear picture of the bell housing showing the release mechanism?
