Just been flicking back through the (many!!!!) receipts for the van i own and noticed that in 2001, the then owner fitted what i believe to be a new short engine (invoice from Lyndale Engines says AS S/ASSY) and Big Bore Piston kit 1.7
What does this all mean for me? The engine looks stock and i thought it was 1600cc. Is it still this? Is it better than stock?
Anyone know?
Thanks

the as bit may the engine code? the 1700 bit is probaly 88mm barrels and pistons (not quiet 1700) whaether they are the slip in or machine type though?

Is there anything stamped at the base of the oil filler tube?
AS would be your engine code, and as six has said, the 88mm barrels and pistons will give a capacity of 1679cc, not quite 1700cc.

Thanks guys. All i know is it cruises well and doesn't seem to drink the petrol. Something must be right and it seems from the old MOTs that only 13k has been done since then!
