I picked up a lowered beam this week end, with disk brakes.

My beam I have at the moment is a rust free stock height with wide 5 drums. What would it be worth as I am struggling with storage space. Or should I just keep it incase I want to go back to stock brakes.

I have bought a later rear end too so will now have 5x112 all round.

hi have a question for pete i am trying to do the same, is it just a straight swap i.e all of it or is it just parts of the later suspension?

Yea, straight swap.

I am going to store my old front hubs as the spindles are the correct ones to use for a Porsche brake conversion.

I will just sell the beam with leaves...

so you have a early bay and your putting later tight 5 running gear on... makes no sense to me but hey ho carry on as you were

what you should have done is scrapped that balljoint trash and put a decent linkpin beam on

Ok now i'm more confused... why did you change the beam for a later one if you want to reuse the spindles for a Porsche brake conversion??

I swapped the stock height wide 5 out as the brakes were crap. I know I could have gone through them & got them to work well, but I have adaptors for small 5 to porsche. I have 3 sets of Porsche wheels to choose from too.

I now have disk up front which is less agro & 2 piece drums which are easy to get off. The new beam was already fitted with adjusters too.

Nobody wants to buy me old beam with the wide 5 brakes, so I may as well split the hubs & store them for a rainy day.

If I ever get round to finishing the 2007cc EFI turbo motor & stick it in the bus then I might need some better brakes.

I intend to do quite a few miles in the van this year & just want no aggro with adjusting drums.

On the plus side, someone else now has the chance of having a genuine rust free beam thats not been cut about for £200.
