Whats up with this

I have a 68 bay, which is a 7 passenger which came with a 3/4 middle seat...So I found and bought a middle seat from a 71 ($50)...its legs match up to only 2 floor mounts, my floor has mounts for 4 legs (9 passenger full seat?) I could just weld in another mount for my other leg or were they just mounted by 2 legs? Weird thing is even my rubber mat mount holes match the seat I bought...hum maybe it came out of a 71 also....were later middle seats different?

68/69 ones are different, which is distinguishable by the different shaped arm rest on the early ones like this
