thats where the pipe goes to feed hot air rearwards behind front seats on micro buses(proberly some others)vent at rear of walkthrough.
thats been added,if they went to all that trouble they should have fixed it properly, looks like you have some cutting andwelding to do
not seen any, mine look like that ;)

Thanks 67. You couldn't be more right about the cutting and welding, thats just the tip of the iceberg
It's a bit of a frankenstein's monster with the amount of different bits and patches on it.
But my monster will live again ;)

In the first picture you can see where the pipe starts at the bottom and should end at the top of the picture - you're missing the flexible 'aluminium' pipe or hose that connects the two steel pipes. The top one appears open and could draw air into the cabin via its rear facing vents under the walk through section. It looks like the lower delivery pipe has been capped off.

Depending on your situation and hot air delivery method - that setup could deliver a little more of the precious hot air to the front of the camper and possibly help with front window defrost.

Usually the little control lever for that rear passenger warm air delivery is all siezed up and not working anyway - there'll be a little butterfly valve in the pipe somewhere to throttle the delivery (or not).
