volksworld forums are fairly good, i only browse VZI and theSamba for parts, too many nut jobs and armchair mechanics on there.

vzi only to sell

bugbunker....but i think this is dead now :? shame really,i posted on there a few days ago and i dont think anyones been there since

volkstourque ocasionally,if i need info on the bug

to be fair to volkszone, the technical forum is amazing :wink:

yes, you might get short shrift if you ask how much oil your engine holds or what wheels from other cars will fit your bus, but i can think of a handful of posters on there... moby 5153 in particular, whose depth of knowledge really is incredible, and who are great asset to that particular forum 8)

general chat is like a sine wave i reckon, depending on the 'personalities' that make up the *core* of posters at any given time :|

My favorite is earlybay of course but I do the samba as well but only to buy or sell parts.
Just ran in to this forum for buses only in Mexico, it's in spanish but you will like the pictures of the buses , it is fairly new so not so many posts yet. http://www.buscompany.com.mx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Earlybay (all EB info), ssvc (parts, info), vzi (for sale), thesamba (browsing), cal-look lounge (drag racing stuff), music radar (guitars/amps)

Might have to add Volksworld forums now too!

Hiya All,

Being from the other side of the pond (and an AutoStick owner) my list of websites is probably gonna be much different from what y'all are used to. That being said, here's where I spend time online..........

The IAC Forum http://www.itinerant-air-cooled.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This forum is aimed mostly at Type 2s although provisions are made for all types of VWs. It's the creation of Colin Kellog, the Itinerant AirCooled Mechanic. During the summer months Colin crosses the country making housecalls to fix/repair Baywindow Busses. His visits are just as educational as they are mechanical. He makes sure that you understand the how the Bus works and that you can repair it in the future. He is, quite simply, the single best resource anyone could have. This guy knows everything and it's not shadetree stuff; it's straight out of the book and experience.

The Samba http://www.thesamba.com/vw/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Samba's strength, it's vast membership, is also, ironically enough, its greatest weakness. You can get a terrific sampling of opinion and access to geat reserves of knowledge. But you also open yourself up to scathing replies and flaming, and general boorishness from some of the members. Got to be careful how you use this one.

The Volkswagen Automatic Register http://www.vwar.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This website focuses on the Automatic Stickshift (AutoStick) equipped cars produced between 1968 and 1976. Very low-key website that works with AutoStick folks to help maintain these cars properly and keep them out there on the road.

Volkswebbin' http://www.openroad.ca/volkswebbin/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This website caters mostly to VW cars but there are a few busowners present from time to time. It started up just about the same time as The Samba but never experienced the wild growth that occured with TS. This site has much more of a family feel. Some of the contributors here are professional VW mechanics and advice tends to be quite good.

As I typed out that last comment I got to thinking. Back when The Samba and Volkswebbin' were just starting out, the big VW website was The Volkswagen Archives. It was based in one of the Scandanavian countries, Sweden, I think. Does anybody here at Early Bay remember that far back (mid-nineties I'm thinking)?

Early Bay is definitely number one for me. 8)

Jk I post on for general chit-chat with a few friends I've made on there during the last three years or so.

I've recently joined the Australian 'Low Light' forum, though I've not posted on there yet.

I browse The Samba for just looking at bus pictures.

I'm a member on VZi, but rarely post on there. Too scary and fast moving for me! :lol: On here and JK I can cope with a thread reaching two or three pages, and taking a few days in the process. On VZi a new thread seems to reach about 30 pages in just a day! :shock: :lol:
