Who make the best van cover?

Depends on how much you want to spend and how much room you have as you can
get 'portable garages' which look the dogs, but have a large footprint and are not cheap!! (can't remember the name of the company that does them, but I am sure
someone on here will)

I have a JK one and it's OK - wouldn't write home about it!!

Mine is from jk(bought about 12 months ago) and does the trick although already one of my clips has broke and there is a couple of holes but other than that its not to bad

My advice - avoid the JK ones!

Mine made the paintwork bubble - caused by the cover not the quality of work etc.

I gave up and follow sk who suggests washing and waxing regularly. I manage it all bar the regularly!

It should breathable.

If not can trap moisture or cause sweating and effect the paint.

My mate got a nice one from Machine 7, its 'fibrous' as opposed to the nylon type ones, keeps the damp out well and also insulates so must prevent internal condensation to a degree?

I have a silver nylon type one I bought second hand years back (JK type), its ok and used as as a dust cover inside through the worst of the year, so is fine for its needs.

Nor me but it did!

The point as always is that JK couldn't care less about such problems which is why I do not buy from them any more.

I am really disappointed with my JK cover, the water can penetrate the fabric and it then locks the moisture in to do even more damage :twisted: I've just been out to check the cover and the water has run down inside it and is sitting in the turned up bits at the bottom. I have ordered a pro tech cover at £320 , expensive but they really work, my brother has one on his splitty and it's excellent. Once i take delivery of the pro tech cover i am happy to give my JK one away for free, if anyone want's it they are welcome.

I'll happily take it off your hands - my van sits in the garage but could do with some protection from dust/paint etc when I take the poptop off so if no-one else wants it...

hi posted about mine on here before cant sing the praise about it enough . got it from hamilton classics fleecey lined waterproof and fully breathable .not the cheapest out ther but works a treat mate £150 of your hard earned .

i could be doing with one my californian import is outside being exposed at the minute cant fit it in the garage till i get it lowered

I got a Jk cover and its fine for light rain, but, as its breathable its gotta let rain in has'nt it? I found that the water would catch in the rear westy roof rack then trickle thru the material down the gutters and constanly run down the windscreen channels.

If guessing all breathable material if laying against a solid surface will be penetrated..............or maybe im wrong.

Anyway i went for a shelter

The van's going into a lock up this week (happy days ) so just need a cover to keep the muck off if the guy next to me starts sanding etc.
I want to get something that I can use outdoors in the future as well though and didn't want to spend £100 on the JK cover if they are crap, which by the sounds of it they are.

The Pro Tech cover looks great but too expensive for what need at the moment, the Hamiltons cover looks like pretty good value at £150 but by the soundfs of it there's no substitute for 4 walls and a roof!

I've got a JK cover and until i read this link i was pretty happy with it but now you mention it i have noticed water getting in and also slight bubbling of the paint work.

I'd really like one of those tents but i've only got a tiny drive and i think it might look a little silly and the neighbours arent to fond of the JK big silver cover flapping about as it is!

I think i might have to invest in the 150 quid one sounds better.

I must say everthing i've bought from them so far has just dissapointed me and i'm waiting for some stuff from custom and commercial at the moment which i paid for 3 weeks ago and still hasnt arrived.

At the moment as I say it's more to keep the dust and debris off as the van will be undercover so cheap is good.
If I buy a new one it'll be the Hamiltons cover but any cover would do the job for now. If it doesn't offend I'd be happy to give you £25 for your old JK cover if you get a new one sometime soon?
