Ooops! I meant OG condition  (dont think they ever came in that shade of grey did they?)
Your right about one thing though clem, this is as cheap a time as you will ever have to get one, come the summer forget it

Oh no, that's pressure to buy one quickly! I am impatient anyway, I just can't wait to have my super slammed Bus! :)

(it wasnt OG paint....... ;) )

I wouldnt wait for any great price drops though .... there is now a dwindling supply in the UK and the imports have slowed right down. :)

that`s a fact that`s not going to change until the dollar pound ratio returns to last years rate....unlikely. AND the euro`s buggered too. Africa is well dangerous( trust me i`m lucky to still be alive) and indonesia use coke cans to repair floors so don`t be suprised to see virtually zero new imports this year

I have noticed there are a lot of people looking for Westy's at the moment. Hopefully this means prices will be coming back up. Good for those who own one, not so good for those looking.

Cheers Dude,
I'll check them out!

Just looking through kieft and kloks stock and I thought the 71 deluxe westy would have been right up your street.
Westy with all the deluxe goodies ( note the clock) lowered, rear belts, bit ratty.
Being a 71 you have the servo discs up front, narrow stud patern which would suit the Fuchs and its an almost identical body to the earlier ones.
Take of the front spare and stick on a set of rims and your there.

The King is dead long live the King......short lived isnt it......

I've read your threads and one thing strikes me windsurfer, your not very hands on yet you are adamant on an early early as it were? any particular reason? What in your mind seperates one early generation from the next? all these early incarnations have quirks indeed even the lates had regular changes upto about 75/76...sourceing parts and spares is a chore at times let alone an expense...

I ask this because far from keeping it 68 or 69 you actually want it to look a completely different beast, in that respect it doesnt make a difference other than wanting the low lights, the rest can be worked on...

Patina/rat requires an awful lot of up keep, faded/sunbleached busses tend to offer a good lived in used look, and with a little wax can be kept on top of with little regular attention...

tell you what; i have to keep the pro-late stuff to a minimum on here (when in rome, don't **** on your own doorstep etc.) but thanks for the back up 8)

Hey Araon,
You're right, I have very little experience and do have to take that into account when purchasing my bus. To be honest, I'm not bothered about my bus having loads of patina. Its more the fact that I am not into shiny cars for a number of reasons (although I like the look of them). I have 2 young kids, a dog and not much time. I've never had sparkly clean cars and don't think that I'll start now. Having a Van with a few scratches etc seems like less pressure to keep it perfect snd I wouldn't mind dinking it with my surfboard, bike etc. I want a pre 72' so that it's tax exempt and I also like the look (connection to Splitties, you know at the back etc.). I thought 69 for another silly (well not silly to me) reason, it's my wife's birth year. In reality, I'd be happy with any between 67-71. As you said, I will want to alter it anyway, I definately want delux trim, spots and an original set of Fuch's. I'm looking into air ride as well (because it seems the best of both worlds i.e. super cool but still a comfortable ride).

From what you say, a sunbleached look is probably best for me, I'll just have to wait and see what comes along. I do like the look of Pete nice's 69, might be a bit pricey for me as I want to do so much to it after.

cheers.

:D

Hey Wibbler,
The baby blue one?
If so, I like it. Does that seem a good price?
Cheers

the baby blue looks ready to roll, the price :? contact them for full details, they have a good reputation for the quality and honesty, they will give you the good and bad points fella.......

Thats the one, heard good reports about KnK so would say the price aint far off, and they are dealers so worth a haggle.
Thing is it has so many of the things you want, the deluxe beltline trim, grille trim and clock could set you back up to £500 alone.

Sounds like a good one then.
Cheers

It depends, your wanting a bus to make your own, its quite an expensive base to develope in that regards, I personally would be aiming at a rock solid shell, thats capable and ready to shunt straight into a workshop and get the mechanics sorted, I would be aiming at 5K as your gonna spend that at least to get the bits your after, the trim and stuff can always come later, unless your after the M plate as well as all the mods.....
