Hi

Can anyone tell me where I can get a windscreen bulge repair panel, my import westy is pretty rusty here and I am doing a repair section on it, but I am struggling to find the panel. It is only rotten under the windscreen and about half way down the bulge on one side.

JK only has the lower repair panels which I need also, inner and outer skins, are these any good?

Any advice is appreciated

cheers.
Tim

Alan Schofield does a windscreen repair panel, its 3 pieces that replace the bottom edge of the screen lip but it won't go down the bulge piece at all. You can either fab a patch if its fairly small or buy a whole front panel and cut the bulge off which is more costly. I plan to fab bits if I need them, I already have the 3 piece repair I mention waiting to go on and I want to keepo as much O.G. metal as possible as the majority of repair panels are much thinner than what VW built the bus with.
I think its quite likely you will need an inner panel as well from what I have seen of others repairs/resto threads.

A H Schofeilds sell them but youll have to give them a ring

item......29B Windscreen and Bulge Repair Panel OUT OF STOCK!! all years £85.00

i had to get a full width cut just to do a 12 inch section on the LH side. bloody expensive it was too. the cuts from schofields are from damaged front panels (or they were when i needed one) so they dont tend to have them too often if they can help it.

I was over at Volks Heaven in Donny today and they have a few donors that might suit.
If you don't need a full width there's a front-end, crash damaged, early (in green) that might be a cheaper cut.

You'd think that with this repair being so common that more people would offer a repair panel, eh?

Klassicfab make these, and I believe they have some available in the next shipment.

Along with Autocraft in the UK, they produce the best repro panels available.

cheers for the ideas :)

The muscle bus panel looks like what I am going to need, welding in the bulge to get the right burve will be tricky though.
