Yellow spots.....

No this isnt a thread about strange skin disorders... :roll: , what is the deal with yellow spot lamps on the front, is it an american thing :?: as loads of lhd Westys seem to run them and is one better than two... ......ive got a pair of clear spots that im thinking of tinting yellow and putting on my dormy but im not sure if this is gonna look right on a uk bus, a bit like over riders i guess....info and opinions please......and pics would be cool.. 8)

I think eventually im gona run twin clear spots. Was always the pal even before they were "cool" :lol: as old VW headlight and our country roads arent a good combination.

I run clear ones on my Dormobile, but they are only JK crap - and they are crap, first winter has seen em rust...

It goes back years,more european.some french cars had yellow headlights.Yellow light it supposed to be better in fog ( hence yellow street lights ) however, there is great difference of opinion as to how much better they are on a vehicle.

I run white spot lamps above the front bumper & I have some small yellow wipac fog lamps slung under my front bumper. I thing they look good and are very '60's' vintage motoring.It is possible to use tinting paint to make any lamp lense yellow.I think fog lamps are more needed/at home on a european vehicle than US - we get all the crap weather!!!

I could`nt even tell you what it works like,
as i`ve never got round to connecting it up

Im liking that look a lot, i have a pair of old Bosch ones and one of the reflecters has water damage so a yellow tint would hide this, why one spot and not two

Just a Stateside perspective on this issue................

The yellow "foglight" thing has always mystified me. I cannot say that they improve visibility in a fog situation. Additionally, I have not seen these lamps on newer vehicles here in the States. When I do notice them they are almost always on Volvos or other European makes from the 1980s. Truthfully, I always thought the yellow foglight WAS a European thing. It never appeared to be that popular with the drivers of US made cars.

The only conclusion I can come to is that some folks think they look "cool".

heres mine cost 16 squid off fleebay, mounted on the og bumper bracket holes so no extra holes, i think they work well ,

I've got an early Bosch script spot lamp on my california westy. I picked it up for £12 at an autojumble, the inner bowl was shot but fitted 1 i had at home to fit, also i modified it to run a headlamp bulb so it's UBER bright :msn4: don't really do much but looks cool 8)

Why have the same as everyone else? Go trinket hunting at the autojumbles..

Got me some old old Noteks (a Speedmaster and a Roadmaster - only difference is the shape of bowls) Think they were about a tenner each, I stripped, cleaned, repainted the blue dot and modified the reflectors to accept H7 bulbs and then fitted the halfords ultra bright bulbs. Got the clear headlamp lenses that accept H4 bulbs and fitted ultra brights in them as well, all works really nicely.

Nice spots prof...wheeto 8), these sorts of lamps were on a few stalls at sandown last year and people were asking £50 + for a set :shock:, could always go the old vespa route and fill the front with lots of lamps and trinkets
