Hey Ozzie, glad you're still liking it bud ššIāve had a Rusty Lee bed for over ten years now. I organised it through Delilahs upholstery peeps that youāll see on here quite a bit . They organised getting the bed, sorting the foam, upholstering the whole shooting match and my front seats covers and door cards too and as anybody thatās seen my bus will tell you itās a bit of a pickle but the upholstery is bang on still and itās always been comfy. Iāve got fabric seat and bed base covers with vinyl edges and the same on my cards. Sleeping on breathable fabric is a lot nicer than vinyl or leather especially if youāre a larger person.

Yeah, there are so many options, just drop me an email on the website if you need help or swatches šPerfect. Thatās the info I was looking for.
Rusty Lee seems to be the one to get. And the original rock and roll bed so theyāve been making them a long time!
Just checked out Delilahās upholstery. Looks ace. They have a little deal going on atm if you get the whole package through them.
All I need to do now is decide on fabric type and colour.
The more options there are.. the harder it is to choose š
Nice one! Yea, some swatches would be really helpful.Yeah, there are so many options, just drop me an email on the website if you need help or swatches š
Good idea! Itās always a PITA to keep the seat open when getting stuff out from under there!
This got me thinkingā¦Iād previously had a piece of roofing batten about eight or ten inches long with a notch cut in both ends but Iād knocked it out while searching in there just one time too many and bashed my head into an even uglier shape than it was already. I toyed with the idea of using an electric window motor while in a Stella had one time. However I sobered up and elected to use the KISS formulae on this occasion.

Donāt forget the seat part has to move quite a lot to become the bedThis got me thinkingā¦
What about a gas strut?? Could use a low resistance one. Something like 100 (N)
It would feel quite satisfying and make a good noise when you open and close it š
Ha yea right. Iām commenting on something Iāve never seen in real life or used before šDonāt forget the seat part has to move quite a lot to become the bed
Iām a fan of making solutions as well!Ha yea right. Iām commenting on something Iāve never seen in real life or used before š
Iāve spent many years as a fabricator so Iām always looking at things and thinking how I can better š

Hi @Walt you need a bracket which sorts that problem out - I'll find you a link!Hi,
Anyone with a Microbus fitted a Rusty Lee bed?
Just wondering how it works/clears the seat belt mounts when dropping it from seat to bed.

No.Thanks @Ben72Bay @fallingoffalot @GrahamL
I've now found the fairly recent thread from last year about this aswell...

So, apart from the upper Seat Belt Mount, is the lower one (mines a rounded edge triangle) also clear of where the bed frame mounts on the wheel arch? I'm guessing this would also need to go as the bed frame looks to fit close to where it's mounted.
And, final question - Does that existing hole (think it's original but not 100%) for the lower seat belt mount line up with the one on the bed frame?

Donāt worry about spouting out something as Iām a big fan of brainstorming. Takes a lot of false turns to get to some good places.Ha yea right. Iām commenting on something Iāve never seen in real life or used before š
