that doghouse is a serious downgrade from the OG doghouse if those outlets extend into the airstream like the one in the picture, and you have no thermostat and flaps

I gone from single port tinware to twin so could not find a good set around so went for new at vw aircool. He an engine builder with good rep so I’m hoping all be good.

With my 1776 I went with a trans rebuild. New crown and pinion. The only gearing I had changed was a higher 4th which is helpful over here in Canada on the Highway. In the UK it might help if you are doing a lot of motorway driving. Cooling? I have a deep sump and external oil filter. Did put in an oversize fan which broke up on me so went back to original fan. Seems to operate within temp.

I’ve got a single port 1776 with the higher 4th gear as well, and the torque can keep me at 60 on normal grades. I trimmed the center out of a SP manifold and use the legs with a DP center and 34pict-3 carb, so it breathes better than a stock SP. I’m thinking of installing DP heads with dual kads I have in my parts stash to see what that gains me, but I’m enjoying the bus too much as it is!

Sometimes you just don’t wanna mess with it,,,, just in case. It’s taken me a very long time to get mine running nice with tiny little niggles all adding up, but now it’s great.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, Brazilian or Mecky can 1641 I’ve got :)
