    Ride too harsh. Advice needed!

I'm running Transporterhaus dropped spindles on my van using the stock beam! I've been using spax adjustable shocks and the ride was nice but the tires scuffed on the arches when carrying passengers. To over come this I have fitted coil over shocks which has stopped the tyres hitting the arches...

    Electric fuel pump vs mechanical??

I have a rotory fuel pump feeding some 44idf's on a 2110 motor. I'm considering changing the pump as I had a very badly blocked fuel filter which caused a breakdown. I think the lack of fuel caused the pump to over heat as there was a strong burning smell. So as a precaution I think it is wise...

    Gearbox Wanted.

Looking for a good second hand gearbox for a '69 bay. I'm running a 2110cc motor so an 091 would be nice but doubt I'd be that lucky so will settle for a known good box from an early van to get me back on the road. Would prefer CM or CN code but any other code will do if it's a good box. :)...

    Fuchs on a bay. 15" or 16"

What do you think would look best on an early bay. 15" rims or 16"? I think genuine 16" with a 36et should fit on all four corners even with adaptors but repro 15" may be a fair bit cheaper.

    Fitting a westy overhead locker

How are the westy overhead lockers secured in placed? I'm fitting one to a 69 Deluxe tintop and I can't see any markings on the unit itself where any fixings would have been. :?

Porsche Brake Conversion Kit. Info required.

As a brake cylinder has leaked fluid all over the brake shoes I think it's time I fitted my 944 discs up front. I've lost the info that I gathered a few years back. I should be able to make a caliper mounting bracket up at work. Does anyone have the dimensions for the bracket and the bearing...

    Screeching noise

Got an intermitent screeching noise coming my type1 engine. It usually happens when up to running temperature and increases with engine rpm and sometimes will fade away and then come back. I took the fan belt off to eliminate the alternator but it's not that. It has to be internal so looks like...

    6 rib boxes question.

What's so special about these boxes then. I know they give better gearing for motorway use but besides that are they stronger more durable etc? :? Can you not just rebuild the lesser boxes to the same spec ratio wise? Reason I ask is the box on my van is getting a bit noisy. I think it may...

    Which fuel pressure regulator?

I got an electric fuel pump feeding twin 44 idf's. I reckon it should have a regulator fitted. Can anybody recommend one before I splash the cash??? Matt.

    Welded Fans????

Just fitted a welded fan I got from JustKampers. It's an Empi one which I didn't realise until it arrived. Problem is it's buckled. If I spin it by hand the run out looks to be a good 2mm at least. Is this common with welded fans or have I just been unlucky or is it down to the fact it's an...

    Quiet performance exhausts

I'm currently running a Phat Boy system on my 2110 engine and although I like the sound it is very loud and can start to annoy on long journeys. Is anyone using a quiet performance system on their hi powered engines that they would recommend? I'm not worried about losing a few BHP's if it...

    75 amp alternators

Is it true that the 75amp alternators are all re-con units. I read else where on the net that the bearings don't last very long. The bearings in mine have given up the ghost so am thinking of buying a 55amp one instead. Cheers. Matt.

    Eberspacher BN2 Location.

Got myself a BN2 12v heater off ebay. Looking at the archives on the samba it looks like it should be fitted in the engine bay. The problem is I have twin carbs and I can't see that it's gonna fit. Could I fit this under the rear seat? Would it be unsafe to do so? Thanks in advance! Matt.

    Quietest method for grinding welds?

I've upset the neighbours this weekend with all the grinding I've been doing whilst replacing the lower panel on the bay. Can anyone recommend a suitable tool that is much quieter than a typical angle grinder. Obviously the grinding itself is noisy but if I can reduce the noise levels somewhat...
