I need a 1600 2nd hand turn key engine for a early bay.
Can I go for a 1600 TP engine used in the beetle and would it have the 3 rear engine
mounts holes that would match up with the early bay engine mount bar ?
I've got an earlybay geabox.

Some do, some don't, is the answer. You've got to assess each case (pun intended) individually. Some have bosses for them too, they just haven't been tapped yet.

Im sure coolair and others sell an adapter plate to be able to mount a beetle engine in a van.

i ran a 1600 sp beetle engine for a while using an oil pump adaptor plate. no issues at all with the adaptor plate

loads of issues with it being a single pressure relief valve case with non doghouse cooler and originally a 1300 but thats another matter!
