You don’t see many Commer’s around these days, and certainly not in this condition!
Having covered just 80,000 miles with 4 former keepers, it's tax exempt and the current MOT expires at the end of July.
The previous owners of this stunning vehicle were keen campers, and used it often. They had it maintained by an ex-Rootes fitter who knew these vehicles inside out, with recent work including new brake shoes and cylinders, and a new clutch, pressure plate and bearing. The 1725cc engine has been converted to run on regular pump unleaded.
This particular camper conversion was carried out by the English company Auto-Sleepers, and features an unusual solid-sided pop-top, where the fibreglass roof hinges towards the rear of the vehicle, and the two wooden sides fold upwards to create the structure. With the roof up, the cabin gives an impressive 6ft ceiling height.
The interior comfortably seats four adults, and features a fridge, a gas cooker and a sink with an under-floor water tank and electric pump. There is plenty of storage, and when it’s time for bed the table stows away and the seats fold across the width of the interior to create a bed. There is also a mains hook-up for suitably equipped campsites, and also a second battery as well.
The rear bench seats also fold up to create two further forward-facing seats for when you're on the move:
The driver’s door and ignition still share the same key, and there is a folder full of receipts, MOT’s back to 1980, original handbooks, as well as an original Rootes Group workshop manual:
This camper is ready to be used and enjoyed by a new owner - you could go away at the weekend in it! It really does look superb, and you’re unlikely to find yourself parked up next to another one. Classic styling, plenty of chrome, proper British craftsmanship inside, and all this for T25 money...
