Hi guys My bay chucked off the n/s drive shaft today and when refitting I noticed lots of play in the diff bearing. Would this have caused the drive shaft to come loose?
It happened at low speed and I managed to bolt it on to get me 30 miles back home but I think I will need a new gear box.
Is there t gearbox to upgrade to? Or am I best to get a reconditioned gearbox?
Regards Dan

A failed diff bearing will make a lot of noise. Do you mean the drive flange? They are supposed to move.
Get an expert opinion before condemning the gearbox.

Yes it is the drive flange. It has a fair amount of play.

Any idea how much play there should be?
What torque should the Allen key bolts be?
