How you get on with the ict’s?

I haven't been out on the road properly yet, but I set them up following a guide I found online (I'll try dig it out) with a full set of brand new jets and emulsion tubes, set the butterflies with a feeler gauge and set the idle screws before fitting. Once I'd got them on and figured out that my dizzy was 180 out, they fired up absolutely spot on and I just used a snail airflow meter to balance them. Starts on the button and ticks over better than my 34pict ever did!

Changed a snapped heater cable today. Had the flap cable tied open but decided to go through the whole thing front to back and make sure it's done up tight.

Bit of a pain of a job, I found the hardest bit was doing the little clip up that holds the cables in place under the dash. The rest was just fiddly because it was so bloody cold. Just waiting on a barrel clamp now to get it fastened up.

Didn't take many pictures as it was too bloody cold!

Started making up some templates for some mats for the seat tubs. I've got late bay runners welded on in a none standard position so no shop bought mats will fit.

Fortunately have a firm locally called megavanmats who are going to cut to my template shape and edge them for me.

That trailer tent looks great. I have no heating in my bus at all, it's been fine here in Spain but was a little chilly this evening so think it's time to fit some heat exchangers. The cables are all in place, just not the connectors at the end.

The bus is now home as I'm moving unit soon. Took a spare hour today to investigate a crusty arch. It's had a rough repair in its life so going to bare metal then repair with a new panel.

Had a pop at the arch today. I'm a bit crap at stuff like this but wanted to do as much as I can myself. Learning curve and all that. I cut the ropey arch off and cleaned up the tub. There are a few holes in that so I will cut those out and patch them before I fit the new arch. I lined it up and cut it to fit the piece I had cut off, with the idea I would be butt welding it - I have cut it a bit tall by accident and one of the sides seems to have come up a bit short so I'll have to find a way to bridge the 5mm or so!

Couple of little bits picked up today. Just some mats I made and had edged. Not perfect but thayre exactly what I need for day to day running about without everything looking scruffy as hell.

I'm struggling to find insurance having had 2 accidents in 2 years. Any recommendations welcome. JK want £1700 and A - Plan can't even quote me. Less than ideal so far! Going to give Brentacre a go as I was with them for years but apart from that I'm a bit stumped..

Having spoken to a couple of local mobile welders, I decided to just have a crack myself. I have a welder and a grinder. I've done some welding before but not a huge amount.

Any pointers gladly received.

Ive cut the old metal out and I'm making up some pieces to fit so I can butt weld them in for a seamless finish. I was going to go a bit big and use joggled edges but would like to avoid the extra moisture trap, especially in the wheel arches.

Progress so far as below - done 2 out of 3 patches that I'll need. I'm going to weld these two together before I weld them in - hopefully to make the final fit a bit more seamless.

So far... So acceptable.

I've started fitting the patches. They aren't perfect but they've jiggled into place quite well. My welding is shocking but it's getting the job done for now. I've been welding bits on the cleaning the welds back and filling in the bits I've missed / blown through. Probably enough to make a pro vomit all over themselves but I'm pretty happy with it for now.

Also got round to fitting a push button for the horn. My steering earth seems to have died a death somehow and needed a quick fix for the mot.

Had an hour this morning to get stuck in to the last patch. This one I used a piece of card to make a template and was chuffed with how nicely the patch fit. It made welding much easier with it being a tight fit. Onto the outer arch as soon as I've stuck some paint and seam sealer on it.

I have no idea what I'm doing.

Outer panel cut to size. Think I might have made it just a little short on the top edge but won't know until I've fettled the sides and bottom parts so it's a snug fit down there. I tried to give myself a 10mm extra all the way round but the top still comes up short... Painful learning curve but sure I'll get it done soon!

As suspected, it fits like a bag of ****. Picking up another panel on Weds for another bash. I'll make it a bit bigger all round and then trim it bit by bit until it's right!

You selling the other?
The other panel? Can do. I'll wait until its all together before I get rid of anything but I think I'll have a spare arch . What bit do you need?

Needing both rear arches but I think one hasn't been cut back too far so may be ok.

Not much progress. Can't afford a decent wheel to replace my absolutely sun baked, cracked piece of crap. So bought some road bike bar tape. So far so good...

Not a clue! It's not even the self adhesive stuff so I'm not fully convinced yet. But it's on pretty snug and doesn't feel like it wants to shift too easily. I'll keep my eye on it over the next few weeks and see how it holds up.
