I'll do a discount on my current bus for all forum members. I'll knock 5 bucks off. Now form a orderly line.

It's a stunning bus I'd love it but I'd have to sell my house..............wife..............kids..........dog and probably my bottom :turninggay:

i saw that on thesamba and thought it would be a pretty penny, but £217K  madness.

We'll all form an orderly queue here then as well.....how much for the dog......?

Honestly this made me laugh out loud, so much so a colleague came round to my screen to see what I was reading.

the sale price was $195K and the rest was auction commission.

Is this the most expensive split ever sold? Honestly, i can see alot of barndoors that could be worth more (rarer etc.). There must have been a few Sheiks in town. I did see it in a pic parked up beside a Mulsanne.

I saw this bus at the Classic and it was gorgeous but I would be afraid to drive it and have some little stone find it's way to that flawless paintjob.
Funny thing , right when I got to this bus I ran out of memory on my camera , so when I went back to my car to get more memory I got distracted and never made it back to take some more pictures of this bus , so this is the only one I got

Very nice over restored bus. I wouldn't want to own it though because there's nothing I could do with it.

One can only look at it.

Moving it would have to be by trailer.

It becomes a piece of art.

Years ago I restored an E type to concours and ended up selling it a few months later because it was unusable. It was a hard lesson.

Needs slamming.

That was what I was thinking!

In all seriousness, you could commission a bus to be done like that for far less and to an extremely high standard but there are a lot of rich impatient people out there so good luck to them.

I don't think it's to do with patience. It's more like the art market.

When this world famous auction runs it attracts the top bidders world wide and if their agent tells them a vehicle they are interested in is the best one, they will authorise their agent to bid to a sum or will bid on it themselves. The really rich see 200k the way most see 200, in that its a small amount of total wealth or spending power.

It's similar but a step up from the person who pays a lot for an Apple Mac that doesent do anything a normal pc can't or buys a very expensive watch.

The kind of wealth that buys a hideous painting for millions just because of the signature finds 200k for the best example of a vehicle to be a bargain.

Exactly what Trikky says ^^^, Plus I don`t know whether there is a little competiton or sport between the rather rich peeps, sort of like one up man ship. So long as it`s kept like that and in that condition I should imagine it would hold its value if not more, once the precedent has been set of price.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Different world innit
