Stripped out interior ready for cavity wax at Mikes.

Plywood stained but dry, original floor in one piece.Note insulation wool.

Interior out ready for cleaning,looks like a pile of junk rather than a treasure trove.

Camper stripped of exterior bits before going to bodyshop for paintwork to be cut back and polished.

Poptop and roof rack will be be refurbed.

I know it's all got to be put back but I love it,getting to know our Westy really well now.. :D
 
Its great getting stuck in, but also a little scary!! not wanting to damage any of the OG gear,....or find to much rust!!
The more you play, the more you learn!!
Yours looks in very good order. 8) I look forward to seeing more. :D

What a lovely feeling it must be knowing you have a really solid complete bus.
I am envious as mine needs a bit of work. I too hope to bump into you at a show later in the year to get a closer look.

Getting there,popped into paintshop today.

They have cut all the paintwork back ready to polish and seal.She looks bloody awsome so excited.... :D

Will post new pics soon.

Hi Shaun

Rich at Cromhall Refinishing in Thornbury.

The bodyshop deals with general accident stuff, but also does classic car restoration work.

The owner is Rich who also dabbles with VW buses, so knows them really well and loves early bays.

Nice guy I've known him for years.Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

When I took the bus in for him to look at,he went bonkers about the original paintwork and said don't restore it let me cut the paint back...... :)

Bus in bodyshop for paintwork to be cut back and polished.

Also having poptop and roof rack painted as Californian sunshine plays havoc with fibreglass.

New spar fitted,ready to be glassed in.

Really excited and can't wait to get to her back.
 
More updates, been busy on bus.

Decided to replace all seals on Jalousie windows...agh never again.Got to last slat and yep glass shattered.
Spoke to Clem and he suggested Fbvi VW parts who sorted me out.

Will post pics of next job, cab door window and quarter light seals.Another fiddly job but found a great trick to help fitting.

Lots of hard work but really enjoying working on bus..
 
Looks really nice fella... i'm not encouraged by you comments about replacing the jalousie seals.. I am planning to do mine soon as they are shot.. feeling somewhat nervous now!

(got any key tips before I start?)
