Soo excited :D
More pics coming later today, hopefully.

I picked up a '71 sunroof deluxe in the same colours 2 years ago, and very similar condition. It's amazing what a little TLC can do to a neglected bus. The problem with the U.S is there are no MOT's and the mechanicals like ball joints are usually shot, but the relatively rust free (California/Nevada/Arizona/Texas anyway) bodies make up for it.

Keep us informed of progress.

She's here! Had a quick poke around at port. No nasty surprises. Super solid Bus.

Had a bit of double vision this morning

Found in the drivers footwell what I thought was the key for the locks, sadly it didn't work :(

More to follow. :D

Got a list together of what I need to do.
Welding:
Both L and R cab floor
Small cargo floor repair
Small hole inner o/s/f wheel arch
Small holes in both battery trays
and a small hole in the roof where a CB radio ariel must have been :msn4:
The cargo floor is in better nic than my other Bus.
I fixed the sliding door today. It now shuts better than my Bus. :D

Gaps nice

Bit damaged where it fell off :(

Billy helped me get the hazardous bit of bumper off and the bent irons.

He was trying really hard, bless him

Sucess!

Got the siezed calipers off and trying to unsieze them without much luck so far

New one looks wicked (deja-vu I think)

What are the long term plan for this one then?

Long term plans are in the mix at the mo. Short term, I will weld her up and make ready for the MOT. Then I think I will have a little stab at a modest lowering job.
The motor seems really sweet with little or no end float, and is a Type 2 unit, as it has the correct engine mount mouldings for the cross member at the back.
I was told it was a pre '67 1500 sp from a Bug, however I can't tell for sure as there is only a letter 'H' stamped on where the engine # should be. :msn4:
More digging is needed, I think.

Matt, I can't remember what I did to the hinge. I think it had a bit missing and thats why the door kept dropping off.
I'll have a look at the weekend and see if it joggs my memory.
They are complex little things and can suffer from ware in the hinge and runner. you can get the plastic runner from Heritage and JK for about 14 quid. tis pricey for such a small part, but it may sort you out.

Another one lives :bliss:
I am reliably informed by Norm that this Bus has just passed it's MOT first time with no advisories!
I can't wait to see it Norm, well done and my hat off to you for a fantastic effort :D

It trips me out i looked at this bus twice when it was for sale by two different peeps. Now it half way around the world and looking tight. VW's are a small world!
