Well i have always been into my campers since i was born i have been camping and grown up around vans!My parents run clubs and my dad writes books so my knowledge on conversions could be classed as sad! :) but for my life is campers escpecially volkswagens! i always knew that when i couls afford one i would get one.I was after a split but when a early bay dormobile drove past my that was it!my heart was set!So after a couple of months of searching a bought this one...

I thought a quick respray and lowering job along with the removal of the front wheel and we are nearly there!

It looked quite good! i got the van in december last year and have been working on it on and of since then!I have been busy with work but now im ready for a non stop rebuild! Iam only 18 and have done a fair amount of work on many diferent campers before!

On the plus side it was an original dormobile which was what i wanted! Although the interior was not there the previous owner gave me a fair few boxes of bits!it filled the van on the way home!

It had one new door so i was quick to buy the other side!
I got the van with 12months tax and 3months mot, i got insured and was happy as can be the first day i got it until the way home! I always have to come down a rather steep hill and she got up the otherside with no problem as its got a brand new engine but when i pressed the brakes...nothing great!going 45 down hill with no brakes so i was quite keen to get on the engine braking and the hand brake the other 3miles home! the rear hoses and bearings had just exploded!i wasnt best please as you can imagine!

I havent got anymore pictures of it now but will post the rest of the ones of it when i got the van!will get some new ones soon!

There are a few jobs that need doing as you can see but the drivers side is now in primer!Front wheel is gone, both rear corners in primer, front panel in primer and lots of bits ordered.
Which include-
New pas side cab door kit all door seals
Engine lid seal
rear light lenses and bulbs
full empi manifold and back box
new rear bumper
Full original Dormobile interior
New cab door mirrors
Low pro tyres fitted now to standard wheels
im sure there is more!

At the moment the van has had all new brakes all round hoses shoes etc..will get new front discs and pads soon. The van was a bit worse than first thought underneath so i have fitted new chassis rails front jacking points and rear jacking points in the pipeline.(with help from my uncle) I will be fitting a new rear cross member and belly pans in the next couple of weeks so will get a few pics now ive got used to this site!
Any questions and ideas would be appriciated please.

O yeh and ive got my heart set on the colours but going to keep them a surprise to you all!they are genuine vw colours but not for the dormobile!Bought my new devilbiss spray gun aswell! Shouldnt be long till she is in paint!aslong as the sides arent as bad im thinking!

Chin up fella, theres a lot of work to do there but you,ve ploughed into a fair bit of it, keep plugging away on her. We're into Winter where sat in a cold garage messing with a project is no good, just think about a hot summer day next year when you drive your resto'ed van to the beach. :D
I got my baby to put right this winter :|
