Well with Marathon of nights and help from my awesome wife I managed to get the bus done for the Great Canadian VW Show. I really had no shake down hours on it before leaving early yesterday morning for Vancouver. If you ever have a chance to catch this show weekend its a great venue and an great event. I'm not a "show" guy so a few biddies and I usually park in the swap meet area and flog a few parts and sit around all day BS'ing.

I 'll take some good pics this week hopefully but here it is finished up.

Congratulation to your absolutely perfect bay! I've seen alot of cool buses but your is my first choice! :anim_19: The best of all in one bus! Very, very cool! If you ever want to sell it, let me know! ;)
Best regards
Reto

Thanks guys. Nice to finally have it done!!

I've been busy cleaning up around the garage and house lately so no time for good pics but here is one with me rolling to the show full of swap meet parts early morning Sunday on 3 hours sleep (note the monster Starbucks in hand). I have some projects to do around the house but my wheels are already spinning to get going on my tintop Westy.

Great thread, Bus & Build

Just wondering what type of paint you use to airbrush and blend in.

Well I Honestly tried about 5 different brands as each supplier said they could match it and let me down. In the end I went to a paint supply place and had a guy that was passionate about it and I used Nason for the majority of it. I think it has more to do with who is matching the paint than the brand itself. I used Glasurit before with great results and its not cheap!!!!!! This time the supplier that deals with Glasurit would entertain matching the paint just mixing the color code they had. I tried it out but it ended up being a bit on the bright side. The supplier that dealt with Nason seemed to warm up to the fact that every time I came to play around with the color I brought a six pack of beers. Comprende? In the end I spent alot of money and time (and some sleepless nights pissed off) fussing with the paint matching but I'm happy.

Just a heads up, Blending Solvent is your friend to help blend !!!!

Where are you located? Nice score on the bus from Wayne!!! :D

Thanks pretty happy with the overall condition of my bus and Wayne was a great guy to meet.

I was looking at your body work and think thats going to be the best route for mine as its solid just got some good dents and stone chips. I will look into Nason paints my question was more the type as in 1k and a clear coat or 2K etc... I've used PPG in the past but thats only because I was lucky enough to have access (after hours) to a paint booth back in the UK.

In Canmore Alberta now, got the bus through an OPI fairly easy now just need to swap the engine and I can start to turn my attentions to the body.

One more thing did you take in the fuel flap or the VW paint code to match?

I used one part Urethane, no base clear. As well I used the paint code to start and then brought in the gas door to dial in the color.

God I regret selling mine !!!!!

I bet!!!!!!!! Hopefully the cash went towards something good that in the end put you farther ahead. I've had a few emails and a PM about selling this bus but at this point it would be very hard to part with. I haven't really driven it much as its been raining every day since I finished it (after a 3 month drought). But I hope to take it out for a drive to Seattle in the next week or so.
