had my 1641 crewcab on the rolling road last week :)
quite a buzz, had the engine built but did all the fitting, carbs, etc myself,
wanted to check my handiwork,
made a whopping  70.5 bhp at flywheel
and 48.5 bhp an the wheels
with 79lb-ft torque at 46mph or 3260rpm
no idea how good this is,but im pleased with it,
the guy said it was well set up(my head swelled) but the carbs were'nt jetted correctly, was giving me a hesitancy midrange,he opened out the jets and its transformed the performance, would recomend this to anyone who has had work done, took around 3 hours in all.

Congrats - must be very satisfying when you've done most of the work yourself. I'm contemplating a 1641 myself and was wondering what your carb choice and jetting was? Any other mods apart from barrels and pistons? Electronic ignition maybe?

when u own one urself u appreciate it when others do...
more pics of this DC plz

johns, its got an engle 100 cam and twin 36 dellorto carbs, not sure on the jetting as the carbs were a mystery to me!

shaven,thanks,more pics

Nice looking van, expect to see you overtaking me sometime soon.
Where did you get the rolling road and carb work done?
Was it local as I'm only down the road in Burnley.

had it on the rollers at minisport in padiham, guy on the rollers is rob, very clued up chap!
meant to keep it secret though,as vws mean kneeling down for him! oops! :)
but as there were two vans there plus mine, guess the secrets out.
