72 devon Price new

does anyone have an original bill of sale for a 72 devon i was doing some research and in one of the 1971 devon brochures it said that the price new was £1500 0s 0d if this was the case then they where priced at more than a new average family home of the day can this be true, as 1972 was the year they sold the most bays

Depends on where you lived! My folks sold a standard 3 bed semi in South London for £10k in 1972.

I think you may have the average house price wrong. My old man paid £1500 for his end-terrace in Bristol in 1962.

on the deeds to my first house it says was built in 1975 and cost to first buyer was £3,000

My parents house cost £1000 in 1969

North / South split in house prices even then!

Our place in South London was £2000 in 1962 and £10,000 in 1972.

House prices from the late 1950's until a property boom in 1972 under Ted Heaths Tory Goverment, remained pretty static my parents bought a 1930's 3 bed semi in 1962 for £2000 sold it in 1965 after much improvement for £2500, in 1974 they bought a new house for £10,000 :shock:
