Help, mine has come apart and i appear to be missing a clip.

There is a bar coming from the pedal linkage to some kind of swivel joint, the long bar from the pedal which connects to the swivel has come out of its hole.

There is a recess around the end of the bar and i think this is where the clip should go.

What type of clip do i need and why does it keep coming off?

The clips are the standard type found on the fresh air vent flaps and the air flaps in the fan shroud and the dash heater lever mechanism. Maybe the spring is weak? or the notched bit that it sits in is covered in crud/paint/waxoyl etc allowing it to pop off?

The pic in the JK link.....Where the pivot goes through the fixed bit, it's like a serrated washer that pushes into place,on the end of the pivot.like what they had on old pram wheels.they do have a name but I can't remember what they're called.easy to knock on but a bitch to get off.all the other joints are those clips.

I drilled all mine and fitted split pins, after losing half the linkage on an uphill bend on very busy A road......

Good plan I just bought some circlips of fleabay might drill it now tho

mine had a similar issue but was held in by the rust, i just got the linkage kit from heritage i think and used the bits i needed. for a quick fix use one of the spring clips from the heater control arms, like doris says theyre the same.
or its this bit

Thank you for your replies.

I think it is the funny serrated washer, like pram wheels fastener as Dors said. Like this little Beggar

I was wondering if there is a substitute, something a bit more substantial. I did think of just putting a weld tac on the end to stop it coming out of the hole or i suppose i could just bend the L shape into a U shape once fitted.

Just to be clear the bar keeps popping out of the hole at the non pedal end just after the L shaped bend and is about 5mm thick.

The linkage etc is brand new and the recess is too clean.

I'll try GSF on the way home.

The PO of Doris had a washer tack welded in place that lasted for years,I had to take it off for the resto, so it may be a more permanent, if not authentic option for you mate.
