Guys need a bit of advice in buying a longboard .....complete novice but wanna get me son who`s 4 involved in them and have to show no fear :lol:

don`t wanna spend a fortune but don`t want some cheap tat either, middle of the road in more ways than one ;)

cheers friends

have a look at a "Mindless" longboards not expensive around £75 if you search the net, I'm a big guy and I ride one and my 9 year old daughter uses it so good all round.
There are a few on here that skate so they may come up with some good advice

A standard short board is long for a 4 year old.....my 4 year old is happy on my board and is getting to grips with it, they are a lot cheaper too, even the cheap stuff is ok for kids as they are light.

Most important are wheels and trucks.

Ask Si, Windsurfer, he's up on the newer stuff.

If its a longboard you are after look up 'Lush Longboards' not cheap but very good set ups, I ran two until I snapped one last year (and no bloody comments Grazy :lol: :lol: :lol: )

If you are after an unbranded one I have some Homemade blank decks that you can bolt your own trucks and wheels too etc (remnants of my skateshop days)

Hey Dude,
This is my kind of thread. Faux is right, a short board is fine but my opinion is to get a longboard. I have both (shortboard and longboard,my son (who's 4) loves them both. I even have a mini board for him. He always gratitates towards the longboard, it has bigger wheels and bearings which means that it wont stall everytime you go over a pebble. It's a smoother, more stable ride too. He usually just sits on it but he has been known to stand (every now and then). I even have a video clip of him riding down a hill.

Something like this would be perfect:
http://www.skateasylum.co.uk/acatalog/mindless-sb9050-spirit-2-concave-red-longboard.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Not too expensive.

You wont do any tricks on it but for balance, co-ordination and fun it's perfect. Just my opinion of course but I give my son the option of what board to use and he ALWAYS grabs the longboard.

Oh yeah, it's great fun for an oldie too! :lol:
