Hi just need a bit of advice please...My bay was lowered before i brought it and the front ride is a bit bouncy resulting in my passenger wheel scrapping the arch, was thinking of narrowed 2" beam ect but it isn`t cheap so was thinking of new shocks and maybe 185/50/15.Advice on new shocks which ones and cost and the tyre choice, the rear end sits nice but down 2 splines and can no longer get wheels off should i come uo a spline or is this down to the shocks or it being done badly in the first place.....Rowan. PS Volksworld you need to find a bigger place inside just found it a bit of a squeeze..

Might not be in your case but bounciness can sometimes be down to lowering on a single adjuster.

sounds like your shocks are shot. how low is the bus.... take a measurement from the top of the wheel arch to the ground or from the top shock bolt to the bottom one.

a pic of the front end side on would be handy.

I think easy fitted new shocks on his lowered bus, i would ask him.

Hi ok went to find the tape measure cant find it,so took the camera out there batterry bleeped and it died lol so will measure and take pics tommorow, but my shocks have a thread at the bottom with springs around them and the socks are orange, can i adjust the shock upwards to tighten the ride ?? also there is no adjuster so i think its the old cut n turn on the beam or maybe you can explain that better than me,regards Rowan

I can get 2 fingers inbetween the tyres and the arch but looking from front on the passenger wheel is slightly out of line ?? to that of te drivers side is there an adjustment on the ball joint to straighten the wheel ??

Like Joval says, see if you have one or two adjusters. If you have two it could be down to knackered shocks.
Mine sits about the same as yours at the front (I can just squeeze in 2 fingers between the tyre and arch) but the ride is fine with no bouncing.
It may be worth taking the dampers off and see if they have lost their oil or the internal valves are shot.
Pull and push them apart several times...you should be able to feel good firm resistance. If not, they are most likely shot.
Whilst the dampers are off, and with the wheels back on lower the bus back down, remove the jack and measure (it's a bit of a squeeze) between the mounting centres. This will give you the correct damper length for the suspension fully compressed. Now get it back up in the air, wheels off and measure the centres again with the suspension unloaded. Using these figures you should be able to find a damper of suitable stroke length that won't blow it's valves apart in 5 miles due to being an unsuitable length for the available travel.

I can recommend KYB GR-2's. They work a treat. I know that Machine7 and SSP (other suppliers are available) do dampers of various lengths.

Hi many thx,but as i stated in an earlier post i have no adjusters on the front beam, regards Rowan.

Sorry Rowan...I didn't see your earlier post. Hope you manage to get it sorted

no adjusters on the front beam, coil springs up front... its is possible your running the red9 design lowering kit?

either that or your beam is turned and someone has installed adjustable shocks which you should be able to adjust. are the bump stops cut away?

It's hard to see exactly why someone has fitted coil over shocks to the front without seeing your bus.It could be that someone has lowered the bus too far by cutting and turning, then fitted those shocks on,wound the spring tension right up so that it rides higher but bouncier. The first thing I would do is take both shocks right off and look and see if the ride height is even and acceptable both sides.Get both front wheels in the air up on axle stands and support the beam with a trolley jack.Remove both front shocks and let the front back down. Then check it bounces up and down ok without any weird snapping noises or limited movement.Do that first and report your findings.

Those look like Spax shoxs and i'm 99% certain you have a red9design kit fitted. I dont see any bump stops but from the picture its tricky as they would have been cut out for the red 9 kit. You get good lowering with full adjustability. you got a good kit there 8)

I remember seeing an earlier set and the shocks were red.

can you pop the wheel off and take a pic?

if you take the shocks off and set the bus on down be careful as if it is red9 the torsion springs have been replaced with bar and wont give any support, the bus will hit the floor!. If you do this let it down really gently. You can adjust the dampening on coilover and it should take the spongyness out of the ride. There should be a screw at the bottom of the damper to allow adjustment, i think its just obscured in the pic.
