you see the bottom half of this picture?

possibly all of that but you should be able to get a complete filter second hand at a reasonable cost. Is your air filter stand chopped off? (to the right of the engine)

Loxy is that for sale ;)
It is indeed, unfortunately as the others have said though you will need a stand to fit it & looking at your alt/dynamo thread the regulator pic shows yours has been chopped off so I think you will either need a later paper type filter (although I thought these were clipped on as well) or go for some twin carbs 8) 8)

to the right of the engine theres a raised large round platform, if its been cut off VVVVery common then you will see a shapedpiece of metal approx 4 inches (from memory) in width starting off horizontal and sweeping to the vertical, usually cut off exactly at the point it hits the vertical........

does that make sense everyone....been on the chardonnay :D

im slumming it on the tiger

the ait filter stand has definitely been cut off, that pic is from the other regulator thread :( . Looks like someone probably fitted twin carbs then switched back to stock on selling the bus, most likely explaination?

lol i dont think twin carbs are a good option, plus its a single port 1500 (dont ask me why)

i may have to fab somethig up to fit the filter, or worst case, fit a panel filter, with some ducting!

It just so happens that I have very carefully cut out the air filter stand on my van & it could easily be welded back in.
But TBH not sure its worth it - you would need to cut the rest of your stand out & then weld it in - anyway by the time we've finished with you that van will be running 5mm off the ground with a 2110cc fire breathing dragon of an engine in the back

dont forget the flame thrower pack out the back...anyone know if shaggy got his flame thrower by the way....

lol

i'm allready keeping my eye out for a nice type4 2L, sommething i can builld up in the garage :)

i am interested in the air box stand though!

Will get some pics & dimensions for it tomorrow, it is slightly different in that it came out of a crossover, but I think it will still do a job (& it matches your red engine bay  ).
Could possibly meet up one day next week as we arent a million miles apart, i work just outside Blackwood so wouldnt take that long to get down to Cardiff - only potential spanner in the works is I am quite busy at work at the moment.

It will just bolt on - but you dont necessarily want a 2l engine on a 1600 box and also you will I think need some special tinware to make the engine bay seal correctly.
haveacamper on here has a 72 with a 2l engine in - he has a 2l gear box to go with it though.
