Its been bothing me for a while, but before i ordered my tyres, i thought i'd check that my MWC empi radars fit my bus, especially at the rear. i did have these on my 62 beetle, but i kept them for my bus as i thought they would go straight on with them both being wide 5's.

so this morning i took one of the old standard wheels off the rear of my bus, then offered my radar on to it, it didnt fit!! not even close!! the center part of the hub / drum, (the bit with the big nut and split pin) sticks out way to far!!

i cant really get my head round why not, do beetle wide 5 alloys not fit bus wide 5's?? or is there something wrong with my hub / drum?? are the centre section of bus after market alloy wheels different??

i really dont know what to do? can anyone help??? here is a pic of the rear hub i tried it on? anything out of the ordinary here?

no,the rear hubs on ebs are b igger than beetles,so will stick out ,i think theres a post on here some where.

can you post a link up bud? can they be changed, i've never seen a vw rear drum with those twist parts on it before?

I fitted Si's (Windsurfer) Wheels and he needed 10mm spacer, extended bolts, T25 hub nuts and we still needed to give the arch a small pull (which you would never notice). The only thing that I couldn't sort was fitting the centre caps....they where far to tight.

Not the easiest job in the world to be honest but they do look sweet 8)

cheers for the help guys, not too keen on using spacers, do all alloys one eb's need spacers? really didnt want to have to pull the arches too!! doh!!

As far as i am aware you could fit the following without spacers (but be aware that some companies wheels' have poorer offset than othrs):

Sprint Stars
Empi 5's
BRM's
SA Sprints
Speedmasters

I'm sure there are more.
