I bought a great engine from the States, 1910cc, sadly the alternator was crap and never really worked from the out.
Luckily I had a brand new alternator from GSF parts which was fitted to the new motor.
Now after 2 years and only about 3000 miles the battery has died on me .On investigation the terminal was loose so thinking I had drained the battery and being stranded I bought a brand new replacement one.
100 miles later driving with the lights on at night that battery died too. The dash board lights just got dimmer and dimmer and then the bus started surging and finally died.
Is there a known issue with replacement alternators? are we talking Brazillian crap here?
I am thinking of getting an original German made alternator rebuilt instead but before that could I be missing something ?
