Hi all,
i don't know if this has been asked before so forgive me if it has,........I'm still on the lookout for a full length rack, and when i met a guy with a splitty while camping the other week i asked him if he knew of one etc etc, anyway he was advising me not to waste my money on one, saying that although they look cool as, they hit the mpg big style and that the one he had really screwed with the handling on his bus and also made quite alot of wind noise, said he ended up taking it off the bus on the way back from Cornwall and chucking it and everything he had on top inside,................has anyone else had these probs??? any advise would be cool,

cheers...............................kev :D

Hi Kev

Got mine on now, doesn't seem to affect the handling yet, but haven't loaded it up. Going to fit the heavy duty anti-roll bars before i go away. As for wind noise I haven't noticed it really.

Like with beetle racks the wind noise can sometimes sound like a wheel bearing has gone. The MPG will definitly be hit just like it is with all cars, but maybe worse on a bus as they are already pretty un aerodynamic.
I doute a full lenth one will be any less fuel sapping than any other, its just the fact you can put more crap on it.

Just off topic abit but ive just started to use a trailer, and although i dont put anymore into it than i used to cram into the van you really notice it on hills, but the fuel isnt much worse as its in the slip stream. It must be something to do with the rolling mass that slows me on the hills. Bigger engine needed me thinks. 8)
