Going to Croyde next week and have recently fitted a roof rack...and just realised that the figure-of-8 clips that clip onto the gutter and normally hold the awning to the van, won't go on the gutter as the roof-rack legs/feet are in the way.

Anyone got any suggestions/known workarounds?

Those figure of 8 attachments are really intended for a proper J rail rather than our gutters. The problem with putting them on the gutters is that they end up sticking upwards, rather than being flat. As we found out on a windy campsite, the twisting motion this then places on them causes them to split along their length.

In reality, it depends on whether your awning gets subjected to winds that effectively try to pull it away from the van. If you can avoid this, you’ll probably be alright.

We switched back to a pole and clamp system and haven’t had any probs since.

Do these fit, or do split screens have a different shaped gutter?
