I have developed a back fire. It only seems to happen about 2 seconds after I take my foot of off the accelerator. I have read that this is caused by a hole in the exhaust. Can anyone advise? Should I be changing my exhaust or should I check anything else first.

Many thanks
Eden

Hi!

Yes, you are right about the exhaust, but also check the pre heat pipes from exhaust to carb manifold, a hole in here will cause it.
Maybe a air leak around the rubber boots on the manifolds?

Cheers!

Alistair

I've had experience of back fires being caused by the timing being out.

Do you know weather it is the exhaust popping or the exhaust. Because mine just did that recently but the left hand carb was popping and it turned out to be an air leak. :)
