I live in the states. High desert nevada. Just south of The Black Rock Desert. Next month a bunch of us are doing a dry lake camping trip. To a small dry lake east of the black rock. It will be hot but not dusty yet as this lake is untouched by the masses. Anyway as i like beers of character i would like your input on whats popular over there. Maybe unique would be be a better word. I drink Guiness, Boddingtons, Samuel Smith etc. Ideas please! Thanks!

Spitfire, Bishops finger... from me local shop... but all beers are great in the UK! 8)

Howie off here let me sample some U.S beers that were pretty frickin awesome at Brighton Breeze. 8)

Maybe not a 'beer of character' but get some Stella down ya ! - it never did Ozzie or John the Horse any harm - although... thinking about it ....

There are far too many but any locally drunk craft beer will be awesome. There are some incredibly good small brewers around that produce some great beers, but they may not travel. Best get a canal boat holiday booked and work your way around the Birmingham Ring stopping off at as many real ale pubs on the way. There is no drink drive rules on the canals so you can have a couple in the day, park up (moor up) in the evening and quaff a few more... Life at 4mph on a narrow boat is very similar to owning an early bay :D

I have drunk some great ales from North West US and Canada, really cracking pints, but they seem to be moving towards higher alcohol content and maximum hoppage that throws the balance off for me (or rather throws me off balance after a few).

Micky Sam, Stella is great if you want the effect, ales are better if you want to enjoy the journey getting there :D

yep, I import and sell Bear Republic beers from California, outstanding !
If British ale then has to be Timmy Taylors LANDLORD, bloody gorgeous :D

Is it only down here they call Stella "Wife Beater" ....?

I've got the Mordue brewery just round the corner so enjoy their beers on a regular basis. I'm enjoiying the IPA at the moment although normally have workie ticket or radgie gadgie .... They also sell it in wine type boxes of various sizes .... Great for camping !
