Hi,

I want to get one for my otherwise standard 1600sp.

I've read good reviews of the 1-2-3 one but it seems quite expensive compared to some others which I believe use the existing distributor.
If I do get the 1-2-3 I assume the one with the Vacuum Advance is the one to go for.

Could I have your views please.

Thanks

its all down to personal preference,

you can't beat for value and usability a 009 with a electronic ignition module be it petronix or accuspark.

Personally I have never been a fan of vacumn advamce systems.

I'd go for:

Plus

and last but not least:

I thought that Vacuum advance systems were supposed to be more efficient on part throttle and also improve throttle response.

Is this wrong?

there was a dutch company that done some tests on 123 and it didnt come out as well. i had the report open at work, was linked off the samba i can post it up here if its still in the history tomorrow.

i am not a fan of 009, but each to their own. I have had a bug and now 2 engines in van with them and never drove that well. Swapped over to a vac advance bosch and what an improvement drives well and mpg certainly went up.

I have the pertronix unit waiting to be fitted and hoping it wll settle bounce and that. any mpg improvement always welcome but not.

heard good things about accuspark, a few chaps on here run them and seem good also

cheers

a good quality bosch vac dizzy and a pertronix kit is the way i went, i saw improved starting seems also
to run a little smoother not really noticed any great gain on mpg though..

hello
ive got a accuspark unit and im very happy with it
defo improves starting
never bothered working out mpg (as its never going to be good )
norm :D

I run an Accuspark its spot on had a pertronix beforehand and I think the accuspark actually does a better job to be honest and its cheaper

I'll be completing the instal of my Megajolt system on Friday down at Laurie's gaff.
This is a crank fired 3d electronic ignition that you can tune for advance and take the engine load in to account via a vac sensor. It is a DIY fit, but not a cheap option. I recon I am in about £400 at the moment.
Advantages are precise ignition control, tuneable via a laptop, speed vs load advance setting, easier starting, excellent part throttle response, better economy, dual maps, soft rev limiter, shift light and tachometer outputs, no timing scatter from worn cam gears etc.

I'll be putting up some photos and a how to guide if people are interested.
It is quite involved and you would need to be decent with wiring and soldering.
If anyone has questions, feel free to pm me.

Sounds like a great bit of kit. Be good to get some more Info on this

Hi.
I am the UK agent for 123ignitions, they are a superb bit of kit, I have been using them on most of my engine builds for 8+ years since buying them from GWD, I keep them in stock.
The 123Tune is the best one, the others are with or without a vacuum , I like them with vaccum.
I can allways do the best price as with the Vintagespeed products.
Cheers,
Dan.

I'm with Alex, got an OG Bosch 009 and Pertronix to be used on my 2110 and I have Pertronix fitted to my current 1600 with a vac advance dizzy.

Cheap, simple and effective.
