HI Daisybay
I have upgraded the brakes to later bay discs and drums. Stopping power is excellent.
The gearbox in mine is an 1800 box with 1600 fourth gear to give it a little bit more legs.
The suspension is in very good condition and I have added Koni shocks up front. Mine is lowered all round.
It feels comfortable at 130km/h

If you Guys take it easy on the throttle
What kind of 'Mileage' you getting? I'm thinking about another 'stroker' build 8)

After 3 years and just over 12k miles I can get low 30's mpg on a long run sitting at 65-70 mph.
If I drive it like it wasn't intended it drops to about 10-12 mpg.

Nice in depth post mate, Intresting 8) Yes hopefully it should be a serious grin maker. Mines running a much tighter deck, 30 thou I think and a compression of 10:1.

I bet your combo in a light single cab is fantastic to drive.

So you have a big engine in an old Bus. What upgrades have you done to the running gear? My Bus is a handful at 100KM/h (60MPH)

I'm still running stick drum brakes  I know.... but reaslically I only do 65-70mph on trips as it's pretty economical and any faster you start to go deaf  As for gearbox I've got a 'built' 002 from the Cogbox. Taller ring & pinion, stock ratio gears which are welded, with all reinforced internals and a super diff. Also run chromoly 'race' drive shafts.

Also lowered with a 6" narrowed king & link pin beam, dropped spindles, adjustable spring plates, tubs and notches etc

Is that with a Servo fitted? I only ask as we have done the same with no servo. We have fitted the pressure regulator to stop the rear wheels locking.

Hi.
I have not got a servo (booster) fitted.
No issues with locking at all.

I've still not driven mine as the restoration has got very in depth

Had a bit of a spend/re think regarding running gear....

Gonna be running Porsche 944 turbo discs & calipers up front, CSP early bay rear drums with Porsche 5x130 PCD, Porsche gasburner rims and to top it all off an 091 6 rib gearbox which will be rebuilt with a few nice goodies.

Bloody hope so  Might splash out on some Weber 48 IDA's next year

Not exactly big, but refined - 1835 singleport, engle 100, DPR crank, AA pistons, 1.25 intake rockers, single HD springs, stainless valves, porsche piston squirter mod, bob hoover oil channels mod, heavy 8 dowel flywheel, precise balanced, cb ultralight lifters (sweep the floor stuff), o ringed pump, machined rear pulley seal, ahnendorp exhaust, full cooling tin with industrial lower tins, thermostat and velocity ring, scat sump with CSP long oil suction basket.

2276cc, FK-8, CB Los Panchitos 043 heads, A1 merged system etc etc, 120RWHP, goes well :)

I said I might and I have....

Brand new, only been run once and come with a CSP linkage. Red stacks are making way for some polished versions

Got the tinware re painted and finally got the 48 ida’s and scat-trac manifolds on  Just need to fit the new ceramic coated header and muffler

Replaced the 1600 twin port unit running 34ict’s electronic ignition and a VS exhaust with this:
