A friend has a beaut 1971.

And he brought up the fact about knockin knuckles when going for 3rd gear, I thought back to mine, and was confused, as I have no problems with shifting.

Well looking at mine, someone must have made a change to mine..As it is bent -Is this after market? Home made bit? have you done anything to yours?

yeah thats an aftermarket extension, similar to this

very clean looking Westy your friend has. i can't say i've noticed the knuckle problem.
 
hitting your knuckles on the dash ususally means something in your gear linkage is worn, have a look at your shift plate and bushes etc as this may be the cause. If not, as has been sent try an aftermarket extension that will take your hand away from the dash. :mrgreen:
 
ive got an empi after market shifter and i dont have the problem of cracking your knuckles on the dash...
i do however have the problem that in first...i cant pull the handbrake on.....

makes hill starts fun!!!!! :mrgreen:
