want to take off the lever and spring assy to grease paint etc while i have the cross member cut out but cannot work out how it comes off, i have loosened the nut (big white arrow) and the gap in clamp is open (think)(little white arrow) is the clamp ring and lever arm one piece (green dots) and or attached to ring marked yellow dot that pulls off centre bit (marked red)

help please.

Hi busdiver, The lever and clamp are welded together so treat as one piece. The bolt has to be removed completely and then prise the gap open and use plenty of WD40. The lever is on a multi-spline arm and is a very tight fit, before you remove it make a note of how the spring is fitted as this is what returns the pedal to the top position.

thanks for that mate, kinda figured it must be something like but before twatting it and busting it, thought i'd check. funny they don't cover it in my workshop manual (big green one) only shows what i think is early bolt through type.

i doused it in thread eze last week end so i'll whip bolt out and try again i don't suppose it's been off in 40years

Having just done this last week I can offer some simple advice - Keep the bolt lifted up out of the way, or if you can remove (I was working from underneath) as you try and lever apart.

I loosened bolt and let it drop back in, and after smacking the hell out of it for a day, plusgas, puller, blowtorch etc figured something was amiss. Lifted up the bolt, held it up and just levered apart with a bolster chisel
