Chassis number location

Got a chassis number on a plate on my dashboard but is it actualy stamped on the chassis anyware?
Seems a bit odd that god forbid my van was stolen it could loose its id so quickly.

The chassis number is also on the M plate, so if you've still got one, check the numbers match.
