Hi all,
Not sure weather its a problem or not really!!
The clutch seems to be working fine, but its when i completely take my foot off it when its out of gear it seems to make a slightly louder thudding noise an stops as soon as i put my foot back on it even a little!! oh an its a 1600 twin port!
Any ideas?
Was thinking its maybe the thrust bearing??

sounds like end float in the crank when you press the clutch it takes up the play engine out job :(

how much free play is in the clutch pedal? is the clutch all adjusted correctly? start with the simple things before wipping the engine out, but does sound like a bearing is on its way out somewhere, could be as simple as thrust bearing

do you get any noise when traveling?

you could check the 4 engine bolts arn,t loose had this before

i had two point loose when i got the van the other two had fallen out the bloke sold it needing a new clutch

The clutch has only about 1inch of free play at the top, so the biteing point is fairly high!
An i cant hear any strange noises when im on the move or out of it when its ticking over!
Just when im sat in it an i take my foot off the clutch i get a slightly louder thudding or rumbling noise!!
Its a strange one!!

Rite chaps!
Had another look at it earlier an had a good tugg on the bottom pulley an their seems to be abit of free play in it!
So thats not good news an could be causing the noise!
Apparently the engine was just rebuilt before i bought it so not too happy!
How do i go about sorting it out as not done much work on an engine before?
Can i sort it myself?
Thanks for any help
Wilf

if your very vry very very lucky it could be just the shims on the fly wheel that need shimming (yer right) but normaly its the shells on the crank the thrust ones they are pretty easy to do if you,v done them b4 if you have no idea get someone who has
