good morning,

Im currently trying to make a list of bits I want but whenever I go on the JK or heritage website my net book seems to come to a grinding halt? Machine7 seems to be ok as do most others, wondered if its anything do do with the adverts etc as there seems to be a lot going on on the page?
I get to the point and think stuff this, I'll look else where.

Anything to make the time pass on a night shift :)

Ta, Ross

difficult question as there are so many variables, but to hazard a guess if your at work most likely your internet and the company firewall may block/ban ads or some other content from the site. slows everything to a crawl

plus companies are getting wise about the dangers of BYOD and will generally make things extremely difficult in order to dissuade you/limit harm caused by wreckless users.....

Just to clarify im on my own laptop using a 3g dongle but I use broad band when at home.

I havent got a clue when it comes to firewalls etc. Could it be due to me running AVG?

Ta, Ross

Avg is quite good you could always try switching of the fire wall temp.in the settings. It's more.likely to be3g related all sites run cookies and will extract.info using them so the next time you us the site it's quicker for them and you.depending info they need will depend on the time that it take to run Facebook would probably run slow too

go to speedtest.net and run the test copy the results here, do it for both your home connection and dongle when your in work. should give us a good idea of how your speeds are.

i've been put off with AVG i dont use it any more and find the microshaft security essentials less intrusive, runs leaner and its free.

Are you a heavy net user? download loads of films etc? If you are seen by your ISP as a heavy user they will throttle your bandwidth and slow your connection down considerably.

I use the internet mainly for forums etc, most websites seem ok. I have no problem with the Earlybay forum.

I will do the speed test thingy but have noticed this problem with Autotrader, Pistonheads, Just kampers and VW heritage. All these seem to have lots of choices and drop down menus as well as plenty of adverts round the edge?

Thanks, Ross
