I think all the bits are there, but not connected, so whilst I can open the tailgate, I can't keep it open. Perhaps it's disconnected because it's knackered - but I can't find any diagrams of what it should look like, nothing in the Bentley manual.

I also need to get hold of the plywood panel that covers this - its a 68 thing I think in lieu of the top box/drawer thing. I've seen them for sale somewhere, but despite a fairly lengthy search, can't find them now. Doesn't help that I'd not know what the proper name for it is.

Anyone able to help?

Cheers

There is a lot of tension in them there springs. Is all the metal work around the area sound? If so then you need a pry bar around 2 foot long to twist them back into place. Be carefully not to slip off though! With a bit of figuring you'll see how to get them back in.

All solid, or at least I'll find out if it's not!

Thanks for the pictures, just about to have a go now. Fingers crossed

Anyone know where to get the plywood cover from?
