Cornwall last two weeks of August - now with pics update

I'm looking to take my three kids to Cornwall (15-20th Aug) - but no bus or tent means will have to be static van.

Anybody recommend a site that can be used as a base for all the usual suspects (i.e. Eden project etc) and that also has entertainment for the kids (ages 9, 7 & 4)

Were off down hopefully early August (around 5/6th) for two weeks. Were be doing a few nights at the wife's Aunt staying in her field next to the house (classy aren't we) at Chagford Dartmoor. Then down to St Ives for few days before heading back up to my "olds" at Bude. Of course this is all dependent on me fixing the ferkin brakes!!!

hmmmm, were off on the 8th for a couple of weeks - well that is if finish the work on the bus!! old engine out - donor motor st in the garage - got new clutch, flywheel seal, oil cooler etc etc hope to get it bolted up tomorrow and running! fingers crossed - dont even know if it works!

Going to be excellent to see u guys in early bays flying around 8) my engine and gearbox are out of the van at the moment but I got a box of lovely shiney bits yesterday from machine7 so hopefully I'll get it all back in next week. Otherwise we will be driving about in the missus mk2 gti very low :mrgreen: very dark blue and very cool 8) so I'll wave anyway :lol: have a great holiday peeps

Hopefully getting the engine back in early next week, the missus mk2 is mint I think she's got OCD when it comes to cleaning it although she cleans mine so I ain't saying nawt :msn4: :lol:

replace sump plate strainer and missing studs
09 dizzy points and static timing
36 dells ready to bolt up
wire in and mount elec fuel pump
heat exchangers
rest of tin
drill case for moustache bar
cross fingers and turn key :? :? :?

Ok all done. Alternator light on and checked with multi meter so looks like that's knackered. And leaking rocker covers. So changed gaskets. But pushrod tubes leaking a bit as well. Not sure how bad cos of the the other oil leak. I really don't want to take engine out again. What are the adjustable ones like?? Or should I just pull the motor and do it properly??

You know the answer to that 1!
I bought a replacement rocker cover, new gasket and new spring clip from C&C, no more leaking rocker covers for me just a shame the rest of the engine is dead (well not dead but on its last legs)

engine out - heads off - new pushrod tubes and seals on - new alternator on - thats enough for this evening!!
engine back in tomorrow - heres hoping - 2nd time lucky!

quick question - the alternator back plate that sits next to the fan has a slot cut out of it - does this go at the bottom? whats it for??

Long time no see Shaun, that St Ives site sounds nice, I'll add it to my list (that I havnt started yet :lol 6 days to go and now the bus is havin some cosmetics.... Typical of me to leave everything to the last minite.

Think I'm gonna head to St Austell 1st n make our way round to Lands End b4 coming back home up the North coast, all weather dependant cause if it's shite like last year we will head home n go 2 Spain :lol:

We took a drive down to lands end went through mousehole tight little roads pretty scary! then found a nice cove by lamorna, tiny beach nice cafe but make sure you pay for parking as the bloke sits in his car waiting and watching until you been there a while and sticks a £80 tkt on you. How did dubs at the castle go mate looked good .
By the way i am after a vanfest tkt for in the showground if you know of any one give me a shout

Thanks for the advice! Didnt make DATC, had a family wedding, but in fairness the wedding was a gr8 weekend!
We are camping at VF this year, cant you pay on the day?
