Just fitted a recon remtec motor to my bus, Weber 40idf's, 009 dizzy, 4 into 1 quite-pack and what not. It fired and run real well, but tryed to start it last thursday and it was turning over so slow, i thought flat battery as you do, charged it and tryed again. Still the same :? I went though everything i could think of, being a mechanic i even stripped the starter and stuff. Still the same :x Took the plugs out (fun with twin carbs) turned it over by hand thats ok too
Then i thought, would it be? took oil cap off turned the key, woo hoo! it fired :D what would be the best way to correct this, can't drive around without a cap can i. Any idea's people?

My old bus used to throw oil out of the front seal. One day I left the cap off by accident, stopped throwing oil out. So 5 years later it was still running like this.

Obviously this isnt the solution, just saying that you can leave the cap off with out throwing oil out, although mine was an aftermarket polished thing with a slighty longer neck.

Is your filler neck not vented by design?

Exactly Clem it should have a breather with a pinched valve below and a feed to the air filter above or similar ..... granted its a little more restrictive than a straight open filler neck....

have you tried bypassing the ignition switch battery straight to starter solenoid and ruling out restive loss of the cable.....
