Danbury table question

hope someone can help,
On early danbury i have seen pictures of the table 'holder', the bit the table clips into place, kind of halfway up a normal side panel card, is it simply screwed into the door card? or is there a bracket behind the card to support the support? if that makes sense

There's a flat metal plate, say 300x150x1.5mm, rivetted across the reinforcing struts behind. Mine looks like it was an off cut from the roof or something, it ain't very pretty. The table bracket is fixed to this with self tappers.
