Agreed 8)

I'm quite proud of it as well. When I looked on awesome's website and saw it, I just knew I had to get one, I think it goes well with the American Diner interior which I'm going for.

Thanks for your kind works

Thank you
The Big Fit will start about 3 weeks time, with a few design tweaks, I asked Chris to email pics as he's going along so i can put them on here, plus I will be going down every so often to take more.

Just came back from Chagstock, In it's 6 years of existence, this was the first time it was Sold Out. Over 5000 people came to see the likes of K.T. Tunstall who headlined Friday and the Fun Lovin' Criminals who headlined on the Saturday, Which is said to be one of the best little festivals in the South West. The sun was shining, awesome music, exceptional dartmoor views, beautiful Baywindows and a pint of Devonshire Cider in my hand, what more could a guy ask for.
Here's some pics for you to drool over

I think I'll stick to my day job.

The bloke who did the art work on Chris's guitar is working some of his magic on my Dani. Yes you guessed it, he works down the same industrial park.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the comment.

When I bought the bench seat off of Gav from Southwest Splitz I told him that I wanted to make a walk through into a bench seat camper, he gave me a bracket which hooks the bench seat on as well as the adjuster for the driver seat. I took it to Carl from Beetle Bank and he extended the driver subframe and had to cut a piece out of the passenger subframe to allow the frame of the bottom of the bench seat to lie flush. He also welded a bar across the back of the bulkhead to give support to the back of the seat.

As you can see in this pic where he has welded the seat adjuster bracket and cut out a section on the passenger sub frame.

On these you can see where Carl extended the driver seat sub frame.

And this one shows the bar across the bulkhead.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, Nigel

Since few of you like my dash, here's their web link http//www.awesome.eu.com/VW%20Interiors.htm

Had I lovely time in France, The French loved the camper, only saw 2 bays while I was over there.

Now Dani is with Chris at Rock Salmon Vans. All the back of the camper has been ripped out and starting fresh.

He done the first fix of wiring for all the lights, fridge and heater. and put a plywood floor down.

IMG_0002_13.jpg

IMG_0001_13.jpg

He's also fitted a roof bed which I bought from vw evolution, Seeing my wife is expecting now, thought it might be a good idea when little one gets older. He's had to make a few adjustments as the handle to push the roof up gets in the way of the plywood. Plus he's making a few brackets for the bed to go up with the roof so we can still stand in the camper when the bed is not being used.

IMG_0006_11.jpg

As you know I'm making my interior to look like an American Diner and how can you have an American Diner without a Jukebox. So we've had an idea to make the hob/sink and fridge unit into one. Chris know someone who uses fibreglass to make the shape we need.
This is another dodgy drawing of what it's going to look like

IMG_0004_12.jpg

Hopefully be down to see Chris next weekend to see how he's doing and post more up dates

See you then

I've been down to see Rock Salmon Vans again today, Things are moving on now. The side unit has been started, I've gone for the curved look to represent an american diner counter or bar.

IMG_0003.jpg

Still left to do is to fit a worktop, laminate the back section and make the unit above the window.

IMG_0005.jpg

At the back of this unit, Chris is going to fit shelves and a Zig unit.

Work has also started on the bed, the frame has been erected for one part. There has been a lot of adjustments to get this one off bed to work. Now Steve is making the section which goes behind the bulkhead.

IMG_0004.jpg

IMG_0007.jpg

The frame moves out on rollers, giving it a nice smooth action

IMG_0012_2.jpg

Chris has also covered above the engine bay to soundproof it a bit, plus made a compartment where the wheel use to go.

IMG_0008.jpg
IMG_0009.jpg

Thanks for the comments, keep them coming, plus any ideas to improve it.

I like the idea of a wurlitzer in there....cool 8)
keep up the good work. :D

Been down to Rock Salmon Vans this morning to check out the progress. The roller shutters has arrived and been fitted.

IMG_0003-1.jpg

IMG_0005-1.jpg

Now I don't have to move anything away from the door to get at it.

He's cut out a hole for the Zig Unit.

IMG_0006-1.jpg

The seat frame behind the bulkhead has been started. It had to be made higher to house the gas bottle that I've got.

IMG_0009-1.jpg

Also the wurlitzer cabinet has also been started, things are really taking shape now.

Been down to see Dani today, The upholstery has been unpicked and resized to fit the new bed, with the frame also being painted. the front of the fridge has been undercoated, ready for airbrushing. Dani was down with Steve to fit twin 34ict webers, bugpack single quiet pack exhaust, electric fuel pump, new fuel pipes and a service.

More exciting bits have been done to Dani. Twin Carbs and exhaust have been fitted, just needing a bit of adjustment to the tuning.
IMG_0001.jpg

Chris has covered the back a bit more to cut out as much engine noise he can, I'll need it now with the new bits on the engine. :D
IMG_0003.jpg

The new floor covering has been cut out ready to fit.
IMG_0005.jpg

The new zig unit has arrived and ready to fit.
IMG_0011.jpg

IMG_0012.jpg

LED lights have been fitted to the side cabinet near the floor to give a glow around the floor.
IMG_0004.jpg

The cooker unit has started to take shape.
The lid has been made, just the detailing to be done and the fridge door has been painted and looking good.

Haven't seen EATE in a while! Bit good, eh? I might just have a wee crush on her because of that luscious singing voice

Not checked this thread in a while - looks like mega progress - love it!

Is that just standard car carpeting you've used in the back?

Chris tells me it's Acoustic cloth, but yes they do use it in modern cars
